Our Top 10 Substack Issues of the Year
Number 1 might surprise you. Plus, happy Christmas Eve!
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
That’s how the story goes, right?
We’re spending Christmas Eve this year the same way we do every year: Hosting at our home with family and friends, and I can’t imagine celebrating it any other way. How are you spending the holidays this year?
Everyone got here last night and we played games, ate pizza and drank wine, and it’s really become a family tradition in the last few years to just spend the days leading up to Christmas all together, not getting out of our pajamas all day and eating too much while pretending we’re kids again.
When we all get together this time of year, it feels like we immediately resort back to being children, especially since we celebrate in the same house we grew up in. It’s funny, when we were young, we used to spend Christmas in upstate New York with my mom and her five siblings, who would spend the week in their pajamas laughing, arguing, and cooking Lebanese food together. Now, we’re doing the same thing, just without the Lebanese food (it’s Christmas fettuccine for us). I guess that’s just the way it goes when siblings get together around the holidays. You go right back to the same dynamic you had when you were little. All that’s really changed is they’re no longer just my brother and sister- they’re also an aunt and uncle now.
We wanted to pop in on this cozy, cold Christmas Eve to thank you for being here with us this. This little community has almost doubled since the beginning of the year, and we are endlessly grateful for your love and support. We have loved reading every comment and talking with you in our subscriber-only chat and getting to know you better while seeing your name pop up week after week. We feel like the luckiest guys in the world to have the chance to talk to so many people from all over and learn from your feedback and recommendations.
Starting this newsletter felt somewhat scary and exciting (what if it failed? what if it became too much to keep up with every week? what if no one reads it?!), but you’ve made it fun and comforting and heartwarming. You’ve allowed this entire experience to become so much more than we could have ever hoped for, and for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Since it’s December and we only have one more week of 2024, we thought it would be fun to round up our most popular posts of the year so we can relive these moments all over again.
Writing this newsletter has been one of the highlights in a rather awful, turbulent year. We’ll get into why it was the hardest year for us in recent memory in next week’s newsletter when we do our big Keep & Delete issue (here is last year’s), but for now, just know how much enjoyment and fulfillment we get out of Okay McKay, both creatively and emotionally. We’re looking forward to exploring even more topics in 2025 and diving deeper into the ones we covered this year.
It seems like you really liked the more spicy issues we shared, so we’ll definitely be posting more of those next year, along with a lot more video content. There will also be the usual marriage and parenting topics covered, and the more heartfelt, deep ones will pop up every now and then, too.
If there are any specific topics you would like us to cover next year on Okay McKay, please let us know in the comments!

Thank you again for being here with us this year. We love you, and are so grateful for you. Have a wonderful holiday, dear reader. xoxoxo
Merry Christmas, thank you for sharing a piece of you with us. This year has been hard for many around the world, I hope 2025 is great.
Question: I saw a new face in your recent video on YouTube and it seemed like he was the one shooting the vlog, is he the person who will be helping with social media?
Just a couple of hours until Christmas Day is here. It’s been a joy sharing the season in a small way with you all. All my best wishes and prayers for you as we close out 2024 and enter into a new year. May you all have many blessings. Love and big hugs. ❤️🤗
