The Weekend Edit No. 8
A big roundup of classic fall movies, TV shows, and albums, plus the best new shows to watch this season
Dearest reader,
Happy Saturday! How has your week been? Mine has been…well, let’s just say I’ve had better ones. The couch and our bed is where I’ve been for the last few days as I’ve battled Covid and haven’t done much else, tbh. This is the third time I’ve had it and I always forget how damn tired it makes me. Like, I have no energy and I’m quickly fatigued after doing even the smallest of tasks. I guess it’s just that time of the year where at least one of us in the house is sick.
With all the down time this week and all the TV I’ve been watching, and with the first official day of autumn on Sunday, I thought it would be fun to send out a new Weekend Edit letter with a bunch of fall recommendations to get us all in the mood for the best season ever, even if the high today is 90 degrees. Like most people, I have a love affair for autumn and all the cozy, warm feelings it brings. I romanticize the hell out of it, ooo-ing and ahhh-ing at the leaves changing colors, the air getting cooler, the fashion adding more and more layers.
I find myself revisiting the same movies and TV shows year after year, so why don’t we put all the ones we’ve been accumulating into one place for easy reference? Below are a few lists of the best fall movies, TV shows, and albums to watch every season (or all year long), and I’ve also included some new TV shows to watch this year.
Fall TV season is back in full swing, and I feel like there are so many great new shows coming out now, which is wonderful because it seemed like there was almost nothing to watch this summer. Now, we feel spoiled by the plethora of TV to choose from every night, and we’ve been juggling a few new shows this week, like American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez and Agatha All Along.
In other news, we’re staying at Holiday House this weekend, so I’m hoping to get some peace and quiet time to relax and feel better by Monday. It’s a sunny and warm morning over here while I sip my coffee and look out at the mountain just behind Holiday House. The kids woke up before us, let the dogs outside to use the bathroom, and then proceeded to climb trees and play for the next hour. Life out here is easy, friends. I like it very much.
Being out here is also a good excuse to revisit some of the classics listed below:

His Three Daughters on Netflix
Premiering on Netflix yesterday, His Three Daughters is a drama about three estranged sisters who reunite in a cramped New York City apartment to care for their dying father during his final days. As they navigate their own grief and unresolved tensions, the film explores family dynamics, the messy process of healing, and the complexities of sisterhood, all while trying to make peace with their father’s impending death. Looks good to me!
How gorgeous are these moody little mugs? A sweet reader named Thomas sent us these to our PO Box last week and they fit the vibe of Holiday House perfectly. They’re currently perched on the kitchen windowsill at the farm (above) and I can’t wait to use them tomorrow morning. Love when our readers know us too well!
