Discussing Our Love Languages and How They Connect Us in the Bedroom
Just how fluent are we when it comes to love and intimacy?
Dearest reader,
Happy Tuesday! How was your weekend?
As I mentioned in The Weekend Edit from Saturday, PJ and I went to a United Way event on Friday with my brother and SIL, and it was such a fun night. We saw so many family and friends there and drank copious amounts of champagne while we mingled and met new people. And while we were the last ones on the dance floor, the party didn’t stop there. After the gala, we went to a local bar with my brother and sister-in-law (who ended up spending the night), stayed up past midnight, and ordered Taco Bell by way of DoorDash at close to one in the morning. Who are we?!
Anyway, any excuse to see my man in a tux is worth it, because boy does he sure look good. Here are a few photos from the evening, if you want to see:
In other news, we were craving a slower pace after the whirlwind night, so Saturday we headed out to the farm for a little rest and relaxation. Though, in classic PJ fashion, not much rest was actually had out there because of all the chores he voluntarily does around the farm. He did dirt work, cleaned up the pavilion area, mowed, and started not one, but two fires to clean up a lot of the fallen branches, but also to keep us warm because it was in the low 60’s and absolutely delicious.
We also uploaded a new YouTube vlog all about our first weekend staying at Holiday House. It feels so good to get back to vlogging. We did it for like four years straight, and every Sunday at 12p a new vlog would be uploaded showcasing what was going on in our lives that week. We love vlogging because each one acts as a time capsule of sorts; showing where we were at during a specific time and place, and especially with our children, going back and watching old vlogs and seeing how little they were is heartwarming. We’re hoping to keep up this momentum and continue to post vlogs through the end of the year.
Speaking of YouTube, we also have a new episode of our weekly live chat, Vino & Vent, if you want to watch.
In today’s letter, we’re taking a deep dive into how understanding each other’s love languages can enhance the physical and emotional connection in a relationship, especially in the bedroom. Do you know your love language? Do you find it comes into play in our you navigate your relationship? I remember when I first heard about them years ago, it felt like something clicked. I was like, wait, other people feel like this, too?! It’s like when you discover you’re not the only person in the world experiencing something and you suddenly feel so much less alone. The internet is great for things like that, don’t you think?
Okay! Let’s get to it
Watch: English Teacher
This is my favorite comedy of the year, and the funniest. If you’re a gay man, or really even just an ally, English Teacher is extremely relatable in both the situations it presents and the dialogue, and feels like the perfect cozy show to settle into fall. It has blink-and-you-miss-it quips and hilarious one-liners, and the references the show makes to gay life absolutely send me. It stars Brian Jordan Alvarez (who also created and writes the show) as an eccentric high school English teacher navigating the challenges of his personal and professional life with a lot humor and just as much heart. As he tries to inspire his students and manage his own quirks, the show explores themes of identity, connection, and the chaos of everyday life. And at 22 minutes an episode, it’s highly digestible. PJ kept saying it reminded him of Glee, but much more mature and zero singing. I’ll take it!
You can watch English Teacher on Hulu.

Listen: C,XOXO
PJ has been listening to this album on repeat all week, especially at the gym, though at times he said it almost feels like Camila Cabello is a guest on her own album because of all the featured artists. Still, it’s a solid album and one that I eventually came around to at his insistence. Our favorite songs are June Gloom, Chanel No. 5, Pink XOXO, and Pretty When I Cry.
You can listen to C,XOXO wherever you get your music.
Love Languages in the Bedroom & How They Connect Us Intimately
In the wild world of love and relationships, there’s one question that’s always at the forefront of my mind: How do we connect intimately with the people we love? And not just on the surface level, like holding hands on a walk through the park or sharing a bottle of wine after the kids go to sleep, but on the deep, soul-stirring level where love languages come into play.
For me, and honestly for a lot of us, love isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of deal. It’s more like a custom-made pair of chinos: Tailored to fit just right, but only if you know your size. And that’s where the concept of love languages comes in, helping us navigate the complex dance of connection and intimacy.
Here are our love languages explained:
