The Weekend Edit No. 26
Essentials for a sexy night in, a bunch of fun links, and what to watch, read, and listen to this weekend
Good morning! How was your week?
In case you missed it, I dyed my hair blonde last week, and the reactions to it were…mixed at best. Even I don’t really know how I feel about it. Sometimes I look in the mirror and like what I see, and other times I wonder what the hell I did to my hair. Comments online have ranged from “I love it!” to “You looked better before” to “You wrote a whole blog post on this topic?” All of which made me laugh. As for where I stand on it, I am happy with it for now. It’s a fun change up after looking at the same color for 34 years. I’ll live with it until it grows out.
In other news, I ordered a few items from J.Crew’s big summer event, where everything is up to 50% off (!), and they just came in yesterday. They’re all for the fall, but I couldn’t resist. I’ve had my eyes on all of these for over a year! Thoughts?

We’re out at the farm again this weekend, and it’s a scorcher. We were supposed to go on my brother’s boat yesterday morning, but I woke up with a horrible stomach bug that put me in bed all day. It was miserable. I’m just now kind of getting over it, and I feel probably 70% better today, but it kind of put a damper on our Friday. We let my mom take the kids, though, so at least they got some time on the river (and had a blast). PJ stayed back with me and took care of me all day and was very, very sweet. Stomach bugs as an adult are not for the faint of heart!
We all plan to take it easy today and rest up a little more. I’m hoping to be 100% by Monday!
Also, and this happens pretty much every Weekend Edit- this newsletter is too long for email, so you may want to click through to Substack see the whole thing.
Have a cozy weekend, friends. xoxo
WATCH
Pokerface (Peacock). Season 2 of one of TV’s best murder-mysteries is here and so far, just as good as season one. Natasha Lyonne plays Charlie Cale, a woman who has the ability to always tell when someone is lying, and she’s on the run from evil men in high places who want her dead. Each episode finds here in a different place, not meaning to but inadvertently solving a “murder of the week”. It’s clever, funny, and thrilling all in one, but with Rian Johnson creating it (the genius behind the Knives Out movies), you wouldn’t expect anything less.

How To Respond To “Tell Me About Yourself”. Finally! How to answer the classic “Tell me about yourself” in a way that actually feels like you, not just a list of achievements. It encourages leading with your values, quirks, and what lights you up, using the five Ws (who, what, when, where, and why) to shape a story that fits the moment. Best of all, it reminds us to leave space for real connection by turning the question back around and inviting others to share too. via The Good Trade.
LISTEN
Armchair Expert Podcast. I listened to this episode with Brad Pitt where he talks about sobriety and AA meetings. I used to be the biggest Brad Pitt fan ever, but to be honest, after hearing what he did to Angelina Jolie and their kids on their plane back in 2016, I lost all respect for him. Still, it was neat to hear a movie star of his stature be vulnerable and talk about his struggles. An interesting listen!

I'm glad the kids were able to escape some of this oppressive heat we’re experiencing. Wishing you my best that your stomach bug will dissipate by weekend’s finish🤞🤗, especially with PJ’s special care. 😉
I’m impressed with the J. Crew design pics with the blond hair and the light pants – seems like the perfect balance! 👍
I'm also loving the links - especially those to the house in Tannersville, Jonathan Bailey and Marriage Equality. Thanks for them! ♥️
