How Much Time is TOO Much Time to Spend with Your Significant Other?
Are we spending too much time together? And if so, is that healthy for a relationship?
Watch: Palm Royale
After seeing everyone on social media talk about this show for weeks, we finally started it last night and are hooked. The show, based on the novel Mr. & Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel, takes place in 1969 and centers on Kristin Wiig’s Maxine Simmons as she stops at nothing to break into Palm Beach’s high society. She has it set in her mind that in order to do this, she has to join the most exclusive club in town, Palm Royale, and be accepted by their elite members. The only problem is, she has no money and is struggling to keep up the charade that she does. It has a stacked cast, including Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Laura Dern, Leslie Bibb, Josh Lucas, and Carol Burnett. Kristen Wiig is hilarious in it, and is from (shout out!) Chattanooga, which is a fun little bonus for us. It seems like it has a little murder mystery aspect to it as well, so we’re excited to keep watching!
You can watch Palm Royale on Apple TV+.
Read: How Smartphones Are Hurting Our Kids’ Mental Health
As if we needed more of a reason that our children will not have smartphones, this article published on People.com discusses how harmful social media is to children. In his new book 'The Anxious Generation,' NYU social psychologist Jonathan Haidt says, “Imagine there was suddenly a toy introduced which would cause children to get less sleep, less exercise, spend less time with other children. It would make them incredibly self-conscious, and it would lower their self-esteem and cause depression and anxiety. That would be horrible, right? We’ve seen a loss of the play-based childhood, which kids have always had, in favor of a phone-based childhood.”
Haidt says you’re basically giving your children an experience-blocker with phones, since the way we interact in real life is much different than the way we interact online. He argues that the social media use age should be raised to 16 and enforced, much like the drinking age is.
It’s a fascinating read, and one I find myself feeling very passionate about.

Listen: Cowboy Carter
This album, more than any other Beyoncé album, was the one we were most looking forward to ever since the track list was announced. Miley?! Dolly?! A cover of Jolene?! This album delivers and then some. Her updated, clever take on Jolene is the highlight for me, especially when she sings:
Jolene, I'm a woman too
Thе games you play are nothing new
So you don't want no hеat with me, Jolene
We've been deep in love for twenty years
I raised that man, I raised his kids
I know my man better than he knows himself
SO GOOD!! Other highlights are of course Texas Hold ‘Em, which our kids are obsessed with, Bodyguard, Blackbiird, Levii’s Jeans, and Just for Fun. This album already feels like an instant classic, and has me excited for the future of country music.
You can listen to Cowboy Carter wherever you get your music.
My husband said something to me a few weeks back that has been sticking with me lately, and I can’t get it out of my head. At first, I wasn’t sure how to take it. Should I be upset? Should I be understanding? Should I be offended? All of the above?
After thinking about it for a bit, I came to understand he was sharing what he felt and that is always a green flag, no matter how hard it is to hear/accept the words he’s saying. He was communicating with me and now it was my turn. I told him I understood and that I agreed with what he told me.
He shared with me that he wanted…
