How Long We Were Together Before We Had Sex For the First Time
And also before we became engaged, got married, and had kids!
On this bright and beautiful (almost) spring day, let’s talk about something fun: how long we waited before having sex with each other.
And asking each other out! And getting engaged! And getting married! And having kids! All the things.
We got together back in 2010, and it was the most exhilarating time of my life. After having a crush on PJ for years, finally making the first move, and getting together, it was a whirlwind of emotions and questions. Is it okay to kiss him right now? Does he even want to kiss me? Would he mind if I put my hand on his leg? Did I remember to shower today? What if I smell?
There were so many unknowns that it’s almost comical to look back on now. A big one at the time was what we actually were to each other. PJ had just gotten out of a three-year relationship that hadn’t ended well, so he was upfront about not wanting to rush into something new. Meanwhile, I was crazy about him and wanted us to be together right then and there. He did, too, but he was protecting himself- which was hard to swallow at the time but makes so much sense now.
We started talking in August of 2010 (if I remember correctly) but didn’t make it official until just over a month later in October. I asked him out by showing up at his door one night holding flowers and a gallon of mint chocolate chip ice cream-our favorite.
