We had some very special houseguests last week.

Mo, Justin, and their sweet son Brady made the trip from New Jersey to spend a long weekend with us here in Tennessee, and our hearts (and guest room) are still full.

We first met them in February of 2024 at the Disney Creators Celebration—a whirlwind week of theme park magic and a Disney cruise that brought dozens of families together. From the first day, we clicked. Our kids played like they'd known each other forever, and the more time we spent with their family, the easier it became to talk and bond over what it’s like being a two-dad family. Since then, we've kept in touch, counting down the days until we could make a reunion happen—and this week, it finally did.

Their arrival was a total surprise for our kids. We kept it secret for months and they had no idea Mo, Justin, and Brady were coming, and the look on their faces when we all walked to pick them up from school was absolutely priceless. Within minutes, we were all walking down to the park near our house, the kids swinging and climbing and running around like no time had passed at all. It’s always magic when friends visit—but there was something extra special about having another two-dad family under our roof.

It’s a rare and beautiful thing for our kids (and honestly, for us too) to spend time with another family that looks like ours. That kind of representation and normalcy matters more than we can say. For our kids to see another family like ours—two dads, lots of love, a home full of laughter—it planted something meaningful. A sense of belonging, of possibility, of this is just life. And for us, it was a reminder that friendship, no matter how far away it is, is worth holding onto.

We squeezed a whole lot of fun (and food and parties) into just a few days.
Here are five of our favorite things we did while Mo, Justin, and Brady were here:
