This year is off to a weird start.

Not good, not bad (unless you count the two weeks we were sick this month), but definitely just kind of…weird. I think a lot of it has to do with the small bit of noise that is still coming through from the news and the outside world in general. Even though we gave up watching the news last year after the election, it still has a way of coming through the cracks and finding us, and everything we’re hearing and seeing fills us with fear, anger, and sadness.

Still, I suppose weird can be good in a way. Weird can be fun and interesting and educational and entertaining. Weird is just part of life (thankfully) and I would rather the year be off to a weird start than a bad one, personally.

I suppose it feels weird because we’re in a state of wondering what’s next. The weather is in that (weird) time of trying to decide if it’s early spring or late winter, with temps this weekend being in the 20’s, and today it’s so warm that we have the windows open. We’re also really getting into staying at the farm on the weekends. We have so much fun out there, and the thought of being there full-time is becoming more and more enticing. What would that look like for our family? For the kids’ school schedule? Would we be able to see our friends and family as easily as we do now living so far out?

These are all questions we’re pondering at the moment. Nothing crazy or even that deep, really, but just the everyday life decisions that make our individual worlds go ‘round.

With all these big emotions floating around, I wanted to focus on a few things that have brought us joy recently, and would love to start doing these kinds of post regularly here on the newsletter.

Here’s what has been putting a few smiles on our faces lately…
