Joan, my mom’s friend of over 40 years, came into town from Michigan and visited with us for a few hours. She’s known me forever and was actually in the hospital room when I was born. She was in this house before I was. She’s been a constant in my family’s life forever, and I cherish the time we get to spend with her. We sat at our dining room table for almost two hours talking about her past and her history and she told me and PJ how she came to live in the south after moving down from Michigan, and before long, my mom came over to join us. It reminded me of the importance of friends that feel more like family and how they can impact your life. You can go months and sometimes years without seeing them, but feel just as comfortable around them as you do people you see every day. Joanie means so much to us, and I love that she now gets to see us raise our three kids in the same house my mom raised her three kids in; the same house Joan folded countless mounds of clothes that were piled up on the couch and helped put away tons of dishes and the same house where my mom divorced my dad in and most likely held her when she cried over what to do next. She’s a great friend, and I am so glad she made time to come see us.

As usual, there just weren’t enough hours in the day, and the Tuesday newsletter didn’t go out as planned! It will be in your inbox in the next few hours though!
What’s your Keep & Delete for today?

Gosh. Home is a place but it’s also people… love this so much. The people we cry with are so often the ones we keep some way somehow, even if it’s not frequently enough… it is so special (once again) to witness through your words the memories in those walls of yours. I wonder what your kids will say… what a fabric you are weaving. Xxx
